        Steve Andersson:

Upon joining Swim & Racquet last year, my family and I immediately enjoyed the fellowship of many friends and family.  Our youngest daughter swam for the Sea Dogs for two summers, and my wife Kristin and I have begun to enjoy playing tennis again.  We look forward to playing paddle tennis this winter.  In short, we feel very at home at Swim & Racquet and want to see this club grow and thrive.

While my wife and I are newer members at Swim & Racquet, my own history of leadership and service goes back many years.  As you can read on my resume, I have served on three boards during my years in public education, and as Director for the Upper Arlington Civic Association.  For fourteen years I was a high school principal in Grandview and Westerville.  I know several members of the current Swim & Racquet Board of Trustees.

We are blessed to live in Upper Arlington and to enjoy the social benefits of Swim & Racquet.  I would like to serve on its Board of Trustees to continue and improve its service to families.  In any community whose benefits I enjoy,  I am eager to lend a hand in maintaining and improving its excellence, and enjoy the work needed to accomplish that.

        Jenny McKenna:

I am seeking a board position on the S&R board. My family and I have been active members at Swim and Racquet for many years now.  My husband and I both play tennis.  I have captained my tennis team for the last 3 years.  Our 3 boys have all taken swim lessons, played at the pool, and did their best to keep the snack shack busy.  My youngest tried swim team this past summer and has found an activity he truly enjoys.  We spend many Friday nights at the pool, playing tennis, and enjoying time with friends and family. Since we have been members at Swim and Racquet the club has been a wonderful place to spend time as a family and socialize with friends. The club’s improvements have kept it a place that fits the needs of our family.

  • Swim & Racquet member since June 2011

         Sara Oliphant:

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, attended Miami University and lived in Chicago for many years prior to moving to Upper Arlington in 2010.

My professional career began in advertising with Euro RSCG Tatham/Chicago in media strategy working on global CPG brands.  I then transitioned to the ad sales side and spent ten years working for Turner Broadcasting (a division of Time Warner) selling national advertising on Cartoon Network and [adult swim] and their associated websites.  When we re-located to Columbus I focused on contract work for Victoria’s Secret Stores specializing in social media strategy for emerging brands.  After a four-year “sabbatical” to stay home with our girls, I returned to work as Marketing Director at Atlas Butler Heating, Cooling & Plumbing this past October.

Our family (husband, Mark, and three daughters Lizzie, Abby and Molly) has been active swim and tennis members at S&R since we joined in 2010.  I’ve been involved in the UA community through various positions on the Barrington PTO & Executive Board, Kitchen Kapers Executive Board and UA Swim Club.

In my free time I like to play tennis, read and travel.  In reality, I spend lots of time in the car driving various children from place to place, pay way too much in missed class fees for my 5:30AM work out and love anything Real Housewives and BRAVO related.

Ryan Rekstis:

Originally from Cleveland, I graduated from Ohio State in 2001 and have lived in Columbus ever since. I spent the first decade of my career in public service at the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensations in a variety of communications related roles. I then transitioned to the private sector and spent six years as an Associate Account Director at Ologie, a local branding and marketing agency. Most recently I took a new position as Accounts Director at Knowble, which is a local creative agency based in Short North. My wife Kathy and I have two daughters, Lily (10) and Cecilia (8), and have lived in UA for the past 10 years. I was a UA Civic Association Director for two years in 2010-2011, and have volunteered for a variety of events for Tremont Elementary and the UA schools. We have been members at Swim & Racquet for two years, with Kathy and I joining tennis teams, Lily joining the dive team, and Cecilia joining the swim team. The girls have enjoyed their experiences in the pool so much, they are both going to be continuing their respective sports this fall/winter, Lily at OSU with the Bucks Dive program, and Cecilia with the Upper Arlington Swim Club. We love the time we spend and Swim & Racquet, and I would be honored to be a member of the Board and have the opportunity to have an impact on amazing experience we offer our members.
